Nolan Van Nortwick

Nolan is a Principal with Riot, focused on investing in audacious founders leveraging frontier technologies to transform our critical industries. He sources, diligences, and supports Riot portfolio companies from first check to exit, and leads research into new categories that are positioned for tech disruption.

Prior to joining Riot, Nolan was an investor at FUSE, a Seattle-based VC firm where he developed the firm’s frontier tech investment thesis. While at FUSE, he led investments in Starcloud (datacenters in space), Portal (maneuverable satellites), Loti (AI deep fake protection), Quindar (satellite mission ops software), Quandri (AI for insurance brokers), Riot portfolio company Integrate (program mgmt. software for hardware teams), and more.

Nolan has degrees with honors in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Vanderbilt University. Outside of the office, Nolan loves to travel, having visited 47 states and 40+countries, and is an avid swimmer, skier, diver, and artist, selling his pen drawings on Etsy and in several Seattle galleries.
